Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland Expands Services to Pender Community Hospital
Families in Northeast Nebraska have access to new services while in the hospital thanks to expanded services in a new Ronald McDonald Family Kitchen at Pender Community Hospital.
The Family Kitchen offers heat-and-eat meals, snacks and beverages to families welcoming newborns, or staying by a pediatric patient’s bedside.
“The Ronald McDonald Family Kitchen at Pender Community Hospital adds another layer of support for the families we jointly serve,” said Christy Batien, Ronald McDonald House Siouxland Executive Director. “The program takes us out of the walls at the Ronald McDonald House and allows us to provide meals, beverages, bags of comfort items, and a welcoming space to families in Pender, Nebraska.”
“Enhancing the care experience for our patients and their families is always a priority at Pender Community Hospital,” said Laura Gamble, CEO of Pender Community Hospital. “The Ronald McDonald Family Kitchen complements the dining services we already offer, providing added comfort and convenience so families can remain close to their loved ones. We are grateful for this partnership and excited to expand the support available to those we serve.”
This is the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland first Family Kitchen in Nebraska. The organization opened the doors to its House in Sioux City in 1994. In addition to the
new space in Pender, the organization operates Family Kitchens in Iowa at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s in Sioux City, Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, and Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center.
