Pender Community Health Receives 2026 Governor’s Wellness Award
Pender, Neb. (Sept. 14, 2026) – Pender Community Health (PCH) has received a 2026 Governor’s Wellness Sower Award, recognizing the organization’s commitment to creating a workplace that supports employee health and well-being.
The Governor’s Wellness Award recognizes Nebraska organizations for efforts to build healthier workplaces and support employees’ physical, mental, emotional, social and financial well-being. The Sower Award recognizes organizations taking steps to encourage workplace wellness.
PCH was one of 31 Nebraska organizations recognized with a Governor’s Wellness Award in 2026. The recognition reflects PCH’s commitment to its mission to be the best place to get care and the best place to give care by investing not only in the health of its patients and communities, but also in the well-being of the employees who care for them.

PCH’s wellness program provides employees with opportunities throughout the year to build healthy habits and support their overall well-being. Initiatives include monthly wellness activities, physical activity challenges, wellness screenings and labs, preventive care, and educational opportunities focused on topics such as mental health and stress management. Leadership also actively participates in and promotes wellness activities across the organization.
Through these efforts, PCH has worked to strengthen employee health and wellness while building connections among departments and teams. The organization’s award application noted positive impacts on employee well-being, productivity and overall workplace culture.
The Governor’s Wellness Award is sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and administered by the Panhandle Worksite Wellness Council, part of the Panhandle Public Health District. Since the program began in 2008, 592 awards have been presented to organizations across Nebraska.
PCH was recognized as Pender Community Hospital in the Governor’s official announcement because the award application was submitted prior to the organization’s June 2026 name change.
