What inspired you to get into healthcare?
I grew up around healthcare. My mother was a nurse in Schuyler, Nebraska, and this initially introduced me to healthcare. As a child, I grew up with asthma and allergies. I had the opportunity to see multiple physicians as a patient. These individuals had a significant impact on my health. Their outstanding care helped me enjoy normal activities as a child. I gained an understanding of the impact a physician can have on the lives of their patients. I wanted to do the same for my patients. This was my motivating factor to choose medicine as a career
What do you like to do in your downtime?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy anything sports related. I am an avid Husker fan and will watch football, baseball, basketball, volleyball and wrestling.
We often hear you shouldn’t just go to the Dr. when you’re sick, what are the greatest benefits of wellness visits?
I think wellness visits give us an opportunity to focus more on preventative medicine. It allows providers a chance to review each patient's history and helps me make recommendations to try to keep patients healthy. We have a chance to discuss age appropriate screening tests and vaccinations. This visit can identify issues before they become bigger problems.
