Medicare Open Enrollment Assistance Available at Pender Community Health

Pender, Neb. (Sept. 28, 2026) – Medicare Open Enrollment begins October 15, and Pender Community Health will once again offer free, unbiased assistance to individuals who would like help reviewing their Medicare coverage for the coming year.

Rita Brehmer, a SHIP volunteer through the Area Agency on Aging, will be joined by Nancy Baker and Shelley Gilliland to provide one-on-one assistance throughout the Medicare Open Enrollment Period, October 15 through December 7.

For many individuals, the annual review focuses on Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. Drug plans can change from year to year, including premiums, covered medications, out-of-pocket costs and pharmacy networks. Even individuals who are happy with their current plan are encouraged to review their coverage each year to make sure it continues to meet their needs.

During Open Enrollment, Medicare beneficiaries can join, switch or drop a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. Individuals may also make changes to Medicare Advantage coverage, including switching from a Medicare Advantage plan to Original Medicare.

PCH’s Medicare Open Enrollment assistance is free and unbiased. Rita, Nancy and Shelley can help individuals review their options based on their medications, preferred pharmacy and individual healthcare needs and answer questions about available coverage options.

Appointments are available Monday through Friday from October 15 through December 7. Coverage changes made during the Open Enrollment Period generally take effect January 1, 2027.

Individuals should have their Medicare card and a current list of medications available for their appointment.
