Pender, Neb. (April 2, 2025) – Pender Community Hospital and Medical Clinics (PCH) is pleased to introduce Dr. Ihsan Balkaya, a skilled pain management specialist from Faith Regional Physician Services, who began seeing patients on March 27. Dr. Balkaya will be available once a month on the fourth Thursday at PCH, expanding access to advanced pain management care for the community.

With skill in treating a wide range of pain-related health problems—including joint pain, back and neck pain, migraines, cancer-related pain, abdominal pain, pelvic pain, and fibromyalgia—Dr. Balkaya brings a caring and individualized plan to patient care. He also has specialized knowledge in spinal issues, giving targeted treatments to help patients get back function and improve their quality of life.

Driven by a deep understanding of how pain impacts daily life, Dr. Balkaya takes a patient-centered approach to care. “As a former athlete and functional rehabilitation doctor, I acquired a skill set that allows me to fully understand how pain can affect one’s freedom and function,” said Dr. Balkaya. “In my practice, I provide individual treatment plans depending on my patient’s social and physical goals.”

Dr. Balkaya’s journey in medicine began at Turgut Ozal School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey, where he earned his medical degree. He then honed his skills through an internship at Sinai-Grace Hospital at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, followed by a residency in anesthesiology at Metropolitan Hospital, New York Medical College in New York, NY. To further specialize in pain management, he completed an intensive fellowship in pain medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Balkaya leads an active lifestyle and enjoys hiking, playing basketball and soccer, and exploring new destinations through travel.
