The Working on Wellness—commonly referred to as W.O.W.—is a structured outpatient senior behavioral health treatment program that is a flexible alternative to hospitalization.
Program Focus
The focus of the program is to enhance the patient’s coping skills and treating conditions such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Psychosis
- Bipolar disorder
- Mild cognitive impairment
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
In addition to these behaviors, others that can be worked on include helping people struggling with grief/loss and major life transitions such as retirement, moving from home to an assisted living or nursing home or loss of independence and significant medical issues.
Program Structure
In the W.O.W. treatment program, therapy sessions will typically take place in a group format where patients can learn, support one another, and advance in their treatment together. However, individual therapy can be provided if it’s clinically necessary. The groups are facilitated by a trained and licensed therapist, under the supervision of a board-certified psychiatrist. The psychiatrist also provides clinical leadership as well as medication management and/or consultation with the patient’s primary care physician while in the program.
Patients in the program have reported a sense of relief of problematic symptoms and support with the services received from the W.O.W treatment program.
